🌙 Who has a witch on their shoulder?

Anxiety and low confidence are brutal. They make me feel small and stuck, like I am never enough. Every choice feels heavy, and every mistake feels like proof that I am failing.

That voice in my head, that doubting, anxious part, is like a witch on my shoulder. She tells me I am not enough and that I do not matter. She will probably always be there, but here is the thing: I can put her to sleep and so can you!!. Making that witch sleep empowers me. She can be silent. She does not have to run my life.

Here is how we can start. Three Steps to Help Overcome Anxiety

  1. 🧙🏼 Notice the Witch ~ The first step is to see her for what she is. Notice your anxious thoughts without judgment and remind yourself: “I see you, but you don’t run me.”

  2. Celebrate Your Wins ~ Every small accomplishment matters. Even tiny victories remind you that you can do things. Say to yourself: “I did this. That counts.” These moments build confidence and prove to yourself that anxiety doesn’t define you.

  3. Do What Lights You Up ~ Focus on what feels real and meaningful to you, not what you think you should do. Engage in activities that bring joy or purpose and tell yourself: “This is mine. This feels real.” The more you practice this, the more you start seeing yourself in a new light, putting that witch on your shoulder to sleep.

The more I practice these steps and start feeling like I actually matter, the more I begin to believe in myself. Seeing myself in a new light well and truly puts a bag on that witch’s head, because I have a constant reminder on my walls, on my desk, in my mind, showing just how marvellous I am. I have proof every single day. I know because I have been on this journey, and I feel for anyone who is struggling. It is not easy, but every little step matters.

When I connect with the real me, things start to shift. Anxiety does not vanish, but it loses power. I start living from a place of strength rather than fear. I start realising that my worth is not about perfection or anyone else’s opinion. It is just who I am.

Anxiety can feel like a disease, like it owns me, but it is not the whole story. There is a strong, capable version of me hiding under all that doubt. Every small step I take to quiet that witch, to reconnect with myself, and to surround myself with proof of my worth is evidence that I can fight back. I am enough. Always have been, and you are too …….. 🌷
