Maternity & Newborn Photography Experiences

We suggest booking your Maternity and Newborn session in after your 20 week scan for when you around 34-36 weeks pregnant.

Pregnancy is such a magical, life-changing time. Your body instinctively knows how to grow and change to support your growing baby, and every day is filled with new experiences...some positive and some not so enjoyable!

Time also passes so quickly, and before you know it you’re holding your gorgeous new born baby in your arms. That’s why having professional maternity photographs taken is such a wonderful thing to do - freezing this magical time so you can look back and remember how amazing it felt to be carrying your baby, showing your little one how they looked inside your tummy when they are older is such a lovely experience for both yourself and your little one.

We have many ways in our Heathfield Studio for you to portray your pregnancy. There is something for everyone, our exclusive maternity dresses from America are always a popular choice as well as the lovely silk wraps, these are used when you feel you would rather not remove all your clothes. Most people, once they get their confidence have a little bit of both. You are more than welcome to bring along your own clothes, we can discuss the options at your pre maternity shoot consultation.

Don't worry about those little stretch marks that may have appeared, (believe me, they will fade if not disappear after the baby is born) we can always use a little “magic” to erase them from your photographs 🤭.

Now, some of you would like to just skip the maternity photos and head straight for the newborn shoot. Again, that's just fine, we are all different and we need to be comfortable with our choices.

Once your session is booked, we’ll add your due date to our calendar guaranteeing your baby’s session in the first 2 weeks of life no matter when they are born. For one reason or another you maybe not ready for your newborn photoshoot, please do not worry I have captured beautiful images when babies are a lot older. It is just easier in the ideal world to photograph them in the early weeks.

Having your newborn baby photographed is a big milestone in not only your baby's life but for you as new parents as well, therefore, I want to help put your mind at ease. I think it’s important that you choose the right photographer and, equally as important, a photographer that is qualified and experienced in the art of photographing newborns.

As your newborn session can last for a number of hours we want you to be as relaxed and comfortable as possible enabling you to sit back and enjoy your newborn shoot. Our Heathfield studio is completely set up with all the things you may need, along with a comfortable seating area, for you to relax and feed little one, in fact, it is so comfortable I sometimes have to wake the dad's up!! We also have a separate play area for any siblings that come along.

I have been photographing newborn babies for 20 years. Those of you that know me know that I am a mother of four and I now have four grandchildren, so I feel I am a rather/pretty experienced in the handling of newborn babies.

I have also had extensive training in newborn photography and hold a paediatric resuscitation certificate. So please feel secure and confident that I will handle your newborn baby with the utmost care.

I am also the only photographer to have gained a Fellowship, which is the highest accolade in the photographic industry, for Maternity and Newborn Photography.

I have also won Newborn National and International Portrait Photographer of the Year 2019/2020 which I am extremely proud of.
