Sarah recently realised her dream of winning a top award. She was thrilled to win two categories in the Master Photographers’ Association South East Awards and be crowned Regional Master Photographer of the Year.
Sarah won Children’s Portrait Photographer of the Year for the South East region, with a shot of three young children and Classical Portrait Photographer of the Year, South East region, with a shot of a pregnant lady. She was also presented with two merit awards for her shots of a family and their new-born baby and a wedding photograph. She was also short listed for a national title as the children’s portrait was put forward for the finals of the MPA awards in Newcastle.

Sarah said: “I can’t quite believe I won. It’s one of my first major awards since I started my career. I was especially pleased to win two awards in the portrait categories as the competition was extremely tough and I was competing against the most highly qualified and experienced photographers in the South East. It is a huge personal achievement to win awards in my specialist areas: weddings; children and family portraits; pregnancy and new-born. It should be great for my business as these awards prove to clients that you are skilled and that your work is very high quality.”
Noted photographer and judge of the awards, Ray Lowe Hon-FBIPP Hon-FMPA had this to say about Sarah’s work: “As a judge there are always one or two images that stand out from the rest, which you still remember many days after the competition. Sarah’s portrait of the three children had a serene, beautiful purity that you rarely find in today’s portraiture. This portrait of Sarah’s will live in my mind for a long time to come.”
Sarah also gained merits in the 2009 national MPA awards for her portrait work and in 2010 received an MPA Award of Excellence for portraits.
Established in 1952 and with over 1,700 members, the Master Photographers’ Association is the United Kingdom’s only organisation for full-time, qualified and professional photographers.
